Merry Christmas !

Well the last month of 2013 came and went quickly!  December started out for us with the Ice Storm of 2013 or Iceapocalypse 2013, whatever you want to call it ;)  I like to call it AWESOME!  Your probably wondering why I call it awesome, well let me tell you ;) Even though we might have been stuck in the house I loved every second of it, because it's not often we are at home so it was a nice change of pace.  David however was starting to go a little stir crazy!  We did get out of the house a few times just to keep David's sanity (as you can see from the picture below).
Before we knew it , it was David's birthday. We had a great day as I cooked him a birthday breakfast and we went shopping for Christmas presents (of course David loves to get his Christmas shopping done the first of December or before).  I have kind of hampered his style on this a little since I'm a Christmas shopping procrastinator ;)

Well for those of you that follow my brother and his golfing, he made it to the 3rd round of Q-School which was in California.  My Mom and Dad were able to go out and watch , David and I were both jealous every time we would receive text messages of pictures there.  So since my brother made it to the final round of Q-School this means that he is a Web.com Tour Member !  We will learn later what tournaments he will get into.  So proud of him and the steps he keeps making to get to where he wants to be, so he can accomplish his DREAM!
Finally !  It was time for David's sister and the whole family to come in from Montana, we were so glad to see them and hug on them because we hadn't seen them since this summer and we hadn't seen our brother in-law Dale since last Christmas.  We were excited that they would be here for a few weeks !
Here are pictures from several of our Christmas celebrations with family !

Christmas day came and we woke up bright and early to head over to David's mom's house and have Christmas morning with Patty, Mel , Dale and the kids.  Our Nieces and Nephew were so excited about their ipads that their Nana gave them !  After presents there we had to hurry home and open up our gifts to each other, then we headed over to Mammaw's to have lunch and more presents :)  After that it was time to head to my parents house in Burleson for dinner and presents.  No matter how busy the day was we enjoyed every minute of being with family.  As I mentioned in my previous blog these last few holidays had several changes that we all were dealing with and it was hard, but we got through it with love from our family and the love of Jesus Christ!  More fun pics...enjoy!
There may be a lot of pictures, but I cherish every one of them because we are not guaranteed tomorrow.  So thankful for our family and friends that are the true blessings in our life, I may say that a lot but I can't help it...it's true ;)!!!
We ended 2013 staying in , David was sick so I had to put my nurse cape on and take care of him.  Well I guess no matter if he was sick or not we probably would have stayed home seeing as we both just turned another year older ;)

On my heart ....

Well before I get to our December blog I wanted to write you all about several things that have been on my heart lately.  My heart has been super heavy this holiday season and I will go more into that in just a bit.  David and I are truly blessed with the best friends and family anyone could ask for.  I want you all to know that no matter where this earthly life takes us all, or how busy we all get... we need to take time for the ones that mean so much to us.
David and I will be married 2 years this coming February and during a span of 2 years we have lost 6 special people in our lives !  Yes I said 6 !  This number just blows me away still.  It seems so often we forget how important every day is and how we need to not take anything for granted, yet so many times we forget when life gets busy, hectic and stressful.  We forget that tomorrow is not promised to anyone.  God is in control and knows ALL, this however does not make any of it any easier.  This Christmas as we were without several of our loved ones as some of you may have been , my prayer is that these loved ones continue to stay in our hearts and that when things like this happen we continue remembering and loving no matter what. That we would become selfless to our needs and think of others first.
I'm not big on change, but God is definantly working on that ;)  I'm someone that gets stuck in routines and loves traditions and family, but not so much change.  During this timeframe of losing so many loved ones it has really done a number on me.  This has come to mean change...lots of change. Changing routines or traditions if you will I'm not a fan of and this holiday season became that.  Making new traditions and remembering the old ones, changing houses we do holidays at, changing times we do lunch/dinner , presents or who all comes.  However during all of this my heart ached and I would try and hold in my tears, but it was so evident the joy and laughter that was going on at each house we went to.  Everytime I saw a hug, smile or someone laugh it made my heart smile knowing that God's hands are at work in ALL of this.

In my heart it all comes down to TIME...time is a gift we have been given.  What will you do with your time?  Make sure to not look too far in the past and don't look too far in the future...look for today and the minute you are in and remember those that have gone before us.  Change does not mean we have to forget...it means we have to live in the now and REMEMBER !
