God's season for Team Whitehead

As I wrote the August post it's hard for me to leave out something that happened for Team Whitehead, which is now part of our adventure.  Let me start off by saying this post is not about wanting sympathy or anything like that, we just want to be real and honest with you and give God glory through this.  July/August (and it continues) were tough months and even though we went on with life pretending all is and was ok there were trials and struggles that we were going through and we continue to pray about them today.

It was a Thursday in July when David and I found out that we were pregnant.  Yes , you heard me right :)  I couldn't believe it, we both were in shock, but totally excited!!!    We told a few people and then were waiting until we were "out of the woods" a little more before telling everyone because isn't that what your "supposed" to do. Well, we never got to that "out of the woods" point.  The roller coaster of emotions both David and I have gone through and continue to go through is nothing I could have predicted.  You hear of people having miscarriages, but for some reason I just didn't think that would be us.  Well, God had different plans and it was us.  The whole time when we were going to the doctor and having issues I kept telling David that whatever happens I just want God to have the glory through all of this no matter what happens.  After we left the doctors office in August when we found out that I had miscarried, my heart was broken and numb.  I kept trying to comprehend what had just happened as did David.  It's crazy how you can go from one moment of total excitement about this new adventure and bringing a baby into this world to total sadness and loss of life so quickly.  That is exactly what happened, even though I was having some issues David and I stayed as positive as we could knowing that our God wouldn't give us anything that we could not handle.  I went home from the doctor that day and cried....ALOT!  I sat in the living room with the lights off, tv off and nothing to distract me and just talked with God about what had just happened.  Even in the sadness that day I have never felt so comforted with God's love!  God has shown us so much through this and continues to show us things daily that we are truly thankful for regarding this whole situation.

David and I have had many talks since then about this and we realized that we wanted everyone to know this season of our life, because at the moment we got pregnant a distinct human being came into existence.  I know some may disagree, but at that moment we got pregnant there was a unique genetic code, fingerprints, and personality that would never exist if life were to end before birth. It's crazy to think that God created that unique make-up of genetic code and that specific genetic code will never be again... it was unique to our child and our child only.

I have debated about writing this post, but the more I thought about it the more I felt God prompting me to write it.  We don't know anyone else's story or what they may be going through, but we thought you never know who else is dealing with the same things, or have dealt with it in the past.  As I kept thinking about others that have had this terrible event happen in their life, I pondered why nobody talks about it.  The world tells us to keep it in, and to be honest I'm not really sure why.  For me that is hard, I'm an open book when it comes to my family and friends and felt like holding this in was not good for me.  So here we are being open and transparent about something that was so heartbreaking, but that has left an imprint on our heart forever bringing us closer with God and each other on a different level. Yes, there will be tough days, emotional days, and days we reflect back, but no matter where God has us we want to put Proverbs 3:5-6 into practice "Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

After days had passed David and I struggled with why everyone waits until after 1st trimester to tell everyone the good news.  Most people including myself this time, do this because you want to wait until your sure the pregnancy is "out of the woods" and everything is going to continue smoothly during the pregnancy.  Well 10%-25% of pregnancies end in miscarriage...I'm sure you would be surprised at how many people around you in your social network have had a miscarriage.  This is because nobody talks about it, everyone keeps it hush hush.  We disregard the facts, the fact that a human being started forming and yes it was already given a unique genetic code, one that was only for that child and their will never be another like it.  God's creation is nothing to hide, no matter your sadness and grief.

We are never prepared for the seasons of life God brings us, the good or the bad.  Only he knows what seasons we need and when we need them.  I always say it's not about what God gives you, it's how you deal with what God gave you that truly matters.  We all have choices in life when God brings us into a season... we could have chosen to be mad at God and be sad all the time thinking about what might have been, or chosen to give God the glory letting him mold us, shape us, and refine us through this situation.   As Peter says "In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed"    1 Peter 1:6-7

Our response moving forward each day:
Confidence that God knows, plans and directs our lives for the good.
Perseverance when facing the days ahead of grief, anger and pain.
Courage because with Jesus as our Savior we need not be afraid of what's to come, he will never abandon us, he carries us through EVERYTHING!

David and I are leaning on God's love to get us through this season and looking forward to the next season he has for us whatever that might be.  We are always here if you know someone going through this season of life and are always here to walk through the different emotions with them.  Thank you all for praying for us, and being there for us...we love you all!!!  May the GLORY and PRAISE be to God today and always no matter the season! :)

August

Here are some quick snap shots from August!  Enjoy!

The Nieces came to visit for a week !
We took Kyla to Texas State University to check it out...can't believe she is a Senior and looking to apply to college!  We had so much fun showing her around my old stomping grounds!
EAT'EM UP CATS!
Katelyn was in town too and we missed her on this adventure...but it was so good seeing them and can't wait for them to move back from Montana!

Next on the August agenda ...David and I became part of the Brute Field Staff!  So if your needing anything with Brute Coolers or questions he is your guy!  We know how much he loves the outdoors ;)

The date was August 13th and it wasn't her due date , but Miss Elsie decided she was ready to come into the world !  We couldn't be more happier for our friends Rachel and Forrest and their new bundle of joy Miss Elsie!  She is loved soooo much already.  David and I can't wait to put her in some camo and show her how to shoot ;)

It's getting close to that time of year again!  The Hunter's Extravaganza was in town and David gets so excited, well I do too !  It's become tradition that we always go the first day and we meet my Pops and brother there for a good time of getting our blood pumping for the season!

oh and yes you are correct that's not me ha ha , that would be Miss Kansas!  David is always looking out for his brother-in-law and trying to make connections ;)  But of course David was like a kid and had to get his picture too !

In August I started Personal Training at the YMCA and am super excited to be doing what I love. But I hated that I had to work and miss the next event, the one we had trained for :( Hotter than Hell 100 !  David was so excited for this bike race and I was sad I didn't get to do it with him , but he did GREAT!  He finished the 100 miles in just over 5 hours, wait I'm sorry it was really 104 miles as David keeps telling me ;)  when you go that far, every mile counts! So proud of him for finishing!

August ended with a birthday dinner celebration for the brother! Love us some family time!

See you all soon for hopefully some cooler weather pictures ;)
